Taped in a distorted reality
Editorial / Photography / Experimental project
Technology has both eliminated a gap and created one. Virtual distance is the phenomenon where people are physically together but detached from each other due to being completely absorbed by their technological device. Consequently, connectivity also means disconnection. We are starting to gradually lose interactivity between humans. The intimacy, the interactions between people are being replaced by human-to-machine interactions. Technology puts us in a state of ultimate comfort. Everything looks easier. It is thanks to the bubble filter, a term that defines the filtering that is done by the algorithms.
These algorithms show us our points of interest, all the things we like. It shuts us in our internal world, another dimension, a personal vision. A stress-free world is created because we see what we want to see and not what we have to see. Taped in a distorted reality aims to show the limits created by technology in a very literal approach. This « personal bubble », wall created by technology is demonstrated in an exaggerated way. We are taped in, unable to avoid it, it becomes our reality. We become alone, isolated in our space behind walls.
